Savouring the Art of Slow Travel: A Spanish Adventure
As my memories of late August begin to flicker, it's impossible to ignore the whispers of change that September has brought in the air. Autumn invites us to reflect on our journey through the year, and set new intentions for the months ahead. But today I’m diving into the archives to reminisce on the memories that I hope will stay with me for a lifetime.
After a few years of wanderlust hibernation, I found myself once again wanting to get out there and explore. I wanted to share a few details from this trip to Spain and give these photos a home.
My camera is how I love to tell stories, moments captured in time and in our digital age, those moments tend to get trapped in the cold confines of a screen. One of my great loves is creating zines and photo books and this one day that’s where I hope these images find their forever home; capturing the essence of the sights, sounds and smells that I had whilst abroad.
Taking a trip north of Madrid to Segovia was undeniably one of the highlights of my Spanish adventure, and it's an experience I highly recommend. The magic of this journey was made by staying with locals, being guided by their recommendations made for an authentic experience. It was the epitome of relaxation, the perfect tonic to bid farewell to the summer.
While I did bookend my trip with visits to Valencia, it was the majority of my time spent in Madrid, the capital city, that left an impression on me. Having never ventured there before, I relished the opportunity to take it slow, to soak up all the culture and vibrancy the city had to offer.
This trip was just another reminder of why Spain is one of my favourite places to visit. There are so many more things I'd love to do here, and I've got a feeling I'll be back someday to tick them off my list.
