5 Ways to Get Back to the Pilates Mat This September

After a long (and, in the UK, pretty rainy) summer break, it's time to welcome back those familiar routines and reconnect with your Pilates practice. The start of autumn is a great time to re-establish those feel-good habits and embrace the movement that rejuvenates both body and mind. Here are five tips to help you restart your journey:

1. Remember the Good Feelings

Think back to how invigorated and balanced you felt after your Pilates sessions. A good way to help pattern it in is to practice for one session and afterwards take a few quiet minutes to really soak in how good it's made you feel. Let those positive memories ease you back to the mat. Embrace the feel-good factor that Pilates brings. Do this every time, and the feelings will grow strong in your mind and your body.

2. Build Accountability

Accountability is key to maintaining consistency, especially if you’re practicing at home. Partner up with a friend or join a class to keep each other motivated. Our welcoming online community is a great place to find support and encouragement from people all around the globe. Live online classes provide accountability, from seeing the same people each week to being around like-minded individuals.

3. Set yourself up

One of the best things about practicing at home is the convenience. Set your space up in advance so you can walk onto your mat and move without distractions. Ensure your mat is ready, and clear any clutter to create a peaceful environment.

4. Be Kind to Yourself

It’s normal to have breaks in your practice. Accept where you are now and start gently. Listen to your body and gradually rebuild your strength and flexibility without pressure.

5. Utilise Online Classes

Leverage the flexibility of online classes to fit Pilates into your schedule. Start slow and keep showing up. Schedule your Pilates classes weekly to maintain consistency, which is key to success. Enjoy the process and take one day at a time. With online Pilates classes, you can find a class that suits your lifestyle and keeps you accountable.

To help you commit to finding your Pilates flow again, we offer a welcome offer of 2 classes for £16 designed to help you get back into your practice.
