3 Simple Ways to Stay Well This Holiday Season
The holiday season is here—a time filled with festive celebrations, twinkling lights, and the hustle and bustle of getting everything just right. But let’s be honest, it can also leave you feeling frazzled, overstretched, and running on fumes by the time January rolls around.
The good news? Staying well during the holidays doesn’t mean overhauling your schedule, it’s about small, mindful practices that keep you feeling grounded and energised while still enjoying the magic of the season.
Here are 3 simple ways to prioritise your wellness this holiday season so you can start 2025 feeling refreshed and ready for whatever comes next.
Start Your Day With Intention
It’s tempting to dive straight into your to-do list (or social media) the moment you wake up, especially during such a busy time of year. But starting your day with intention—even for just 5 minutes—can set the tone for a calmer, more focused day.
Try this:
Before you get out of bed, take a few deep breaths and mentally set a simple intention for your day. It could be something like: Today, I’ll focus on joy, or I’ll move with ease through my tasks.
If you have more time, try journaling, gentle stretching, or a quick morning Pilates session.
2. Move Daily, Even If It’s Just for 10 Minutes
When your schedule is packed, exercise often falls to the bottom of the priority list. But movement is one of the best ways to release stress, boost energy, and reconnect with your body—all things we really need during the holidays.
This doesn’t mean hitting the gym for an hour; it could be a quick walk, some light stretching, or a short Pilates class (you know I’ve got you covered!).
Try this:
Commit to just 10 minutes of movement each day. It could be while waiting for the kettle to boil or as a mini break between wrapping presents.
Focus on mindful movement—move in a way that feels good for your body, rather than adding it to your “to-do” list.
3. Embrace Mindful Moments Amidst the Chaos
Mindfulness doesn’t mean sitting cross-legged in silence for an hour (though if that’s your thing, go for it!). It’s simply about being present, even in small moments.
Try this:
Take a few deep breaths when things feel overwhelming—it’s a simple way to reset and ground yourself.
Be mindful of your commitments. Saying yes to everything might sound like a good idea, but leaving space for rest and “me time” is just as important.
Take a step outside and enjoy a mindful walk enjoying your surroundings and nature.
